Organized into a National Military Department with a General Staff and seven geographical Military Districts, SVR units participate in Civil War ceremonies, patriotic parades, living-history programs, memorial observances, and reenactments. Through military uniforms, drill, ceremonies, and educational programs, SVR members help preserve the traditions and memory of those who fought to preserve the Union.
For members in Texas and Louisiana, Company K, 1st United States Infantry provides an opportunity to become part of this proud tradition. Company K covers both states and serves as a unit of the 6th Military District of the Sons of Veterans Reserve, bringing the SVR mission directly to communities throughout the region.
Membership in the SVR is open to SUVCW hereditary Members and Juniors, as well as Associate Members. Applicants must first belong to the SUVCW and then submit an application for SVR membership. Minimal annual dues make participation accessible to members eager to become more actively involved in preserving Civil War history.
